Settled Home on Soft Soil, Sai Mai — Micropiles Driven Deep to Bearing Strata
A modern home in Sai Mai settling on very deep soft soil. URETEK underpinned it with micropiles jacked more than 20 metres down to genuinely load-bearing strata — working in the tight side alley, and logging pile count and depth for every pile.
The Sai Mai area has very deep soft soil, so this modern home settled because its footings rested on soil that could not carry the load. The fix required jacking piles deeper than usual to reach genuinely firm strata, and URETEK used segmented micropiles pressed down one tube at a time.
📉 Deep Soft Soil — Why the Piles Go Deep
Across much of northern Bangkok the soft-soil layer is very deep; piles must reach the sand/firm layer that can bear load. On this site some piles went beyond 20 metres (one record point reached 23.5 m, 20 tube sections).
🔧 Jacking Segmented Piles in a Narrow Alley
The workspace was a very tight side alley, so segmented micropiles were ideal — jacked in without a rig, with level controlled by laser and pressure read for every pile.
📊 Logging Tube Count and Depth per Pile
Every pile's tube count and final depth were recorded to confirm it reached true bearing strata — not merely stopped in soft soil.
✅ The Result: Footings Bearing on Firm Strata
With the piles reaching firm strata, the structure has solid support and the settlement stopped; the pile heads were welded to the footings and the work neatly restored.
