A Settling 2-Storey Extension, Bang Phli — 6 Micropiles, 28 m Deep
The extension of this Bang Phli home is a two-storey, 4×10 m structure — heavy, and starting to settle. URETEK underpinned it with six micropiles in a row, driven to firm strata as deep as 28 m, working along the side wall around the AC units and garden — backed by a 36-month warranty.
The extension of this home in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan is not a small room but a two-storey, 4×10 m structure — heavier than a typical add-on. As the soft Samut Prakan soil could no longer carry the load, the building began to settle. This job called for several piles in a row, driven exceptionally deep to carry two storeys with confidence.
🏗️ The Problem: A Heavy 2-Storey Extension Settling
A two-storey extension puts many times the load onto its footing than a single-storey room. When the soil beneath gave way, the structure moved and began separating from the main house — a problem that had to be solved at the foundation.
📍 The Setting: Working Along the Side Wall, Around the AC and Garden
The work ran along the side wall, past AC condenser units, a grass garden and a house wall to protect. The team sheeted the whole run, opened pits point by point (50×50 cm each) at positions MP1–MP6, and kept the owner's AC units and garden untouched.
⚙️ The Fix: Six Micropiles in a Row, Down to Firm Strata
Load brackets were fixed to the existing footing/beam, then steel micropiles (ASTM A53 tube) were hydraulically jacked at all six points to firm strata — some as deep as 27–28 m, because Bang Phli's soft soil runs deep. Lining the piles along the length distributes the two-storey load evenly across every pile.
📊 Re-Leveling, Every Pile Logged
The supervisor checked the hydraulic gauge on every pile to confirm capacity and logged the values (300 bar, 23–28 m deep, +0.5 mm lift per pile), then locked the pile heads to the brackets and concreted the floor back to its original state.
✅ The Result: Two Storeys Steady Again, 36-Month Warranty
With the load transferred onto firm strata across all six piles, the two-storey extension was steady and level again, its wall and garden neatly restored — backed by a long 36-month settlement warranty that reflects confidence in a heavy-load job.
